Hi, my name is Amanda Blackwell and this is my TED talk.
I’m kidding. This isn’t my TED talk.
But this is a story that is begging to be told. This is a conversation that needs to be had.
In figure skating, most skaters jump and spin in the same, seemingly “normal” direction.
Not me.
I jump to the right and spin to the left. The same dichotomy of opposites and doing something different has played out in my life—and this is the unfolding. From becoming 2014 Gold Ladies National Champion, to quitting the corporate life in San Francisco and ultimately moving to Hawaii…
My life slowed down so I could heal from an eating disorder. My life has also grown rich and real and painful and beautiful and I’m exactly where I need to be.
My skates might be collecting dust, but I’ll still keep on spinnin’ to the left.
